This review covers the standard Gel Max, not Gel Max Power or a guaranteed flavoured edition. Shock Doctor specifies Youth for ages 10 and under and Adult for 11 and over. Age is a starting point: the guard must fit securely after moulding.

Gel Max is not compatible with braces. If the wearer has braces, ask their dentist or orthodontist about a suitable alternative.

For children, appearance or flavour is not a substitute for fit. Follow the instructions supplied with the exact product and supervise children around hot water. Flavoured editions are separate variants.
